Hey, I know you’re excited about your Disney vacation, as you should be! But before you head to Orlando (or at least before you get to the park gates) it’s important to make sure you have all the “essentials” packed.
Obviously, you can’t buy a churro with pixie dust, at least not anymore, so it’s important to bring some cold hard cash or a debit card with you of course. But you also don’t want to be stuck without your SPF30—or a way to charge your phone. Especially when the sun is beating down and there isn’t a single bench in sight.
So to help you guys out, I’ve compiled a list of six must-have items for any Disney trip. Based on my own experience, these are some of the most important items that I recommend packing before heading out to Disney:
1 – Sunscreen
Before you start humming your favorite Disney tunes on the way to the Magic Kingdom, make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen—you’re going to be spending quite a bit of time in the central Florida sun after all. And don’t forget to reapply throughout the day, or you’ll turn into a Disney character yourself—probably Sebastian from The Little Mermaid. The AAD (American Academy of Dermatology) recommends sunscreens that have a minimum SPF rating of 30. And you’ll want to make sure you choose one that is water-resistant, so it won’t melt off if you get sweaty from all the walking (or splashed by a random fountain).

Florida is known for two things: Sun & Mosquitos. Bullfrog Mosquito Coast Insect Repellent + SPF 50 Sunscreen is a real game changer (and hard to find). Get yours on Amazon Prime.
2 – Comfortable Shoes
Comfortable shoes are key—especially if you plan on trekking around Magic Kingdom or Epcot all day. But no matter which parks are on your list, one thing’s for certain: you’re going to be doing a lot of walking. So make sure to bring along shoes that are comfortable and supportive.

Pack for comfort more than for fashion. No one wants to be dealing with blisters while they’re trying to make the most of their time at Disney.
3 – Sweater or Jacket
One of the many things Florida does well is air conditioning. Even though it’s hot outside, the restaurants and rides inside can get chilly. Make sure to bring a lightweight sweater or jacket so you can stay comfortable when you need a break from the sun, or are heading into a restaurant or attraction
It may seem counterintuitive to bring a sweater or a jacket with you to Florida in the summer, but trust me—it’s much better than having to buy an overpriced Disney souvenir jacket! (Unless that’s what you were planning on doing, of course.)

4 – A Power Bank
If you’re planning on taking lots of pictures and videos during your Disney vacation, make sure to bring a power bank with you.
Nothing’s worse than having your phone die right in the middle of when you’re trying to get that perfect family photo or when you’re trying to navigate your way around the park—let alone text the others in your group to meet up.
Avoid the hassle and bring a power bank with you—they’re inexpensive and essential for any Disney vacation.

I have used this exact set for years. Packed on vacations, as a power source after hurricanes, and just around the house – no issues, ever. I’d gladly recommend these to my own mother – and here, to you, today. Check them out on Amazon.
5 – Reusable Water Bottle
Stay hydrated during your Disney vacation with a reusable water bottle. There are several places where you can refill it for free, or just purchase a wide variety of tasty beverages. But you’ll be glad you brought your own bottle when you’re standing in line for a ride and the summer heat is taking its toll!

I’m sure you have a water bottle or three at home, and I do recommend using those. However, when packing things all day in Disney, every little ounce matters. These are lightweight and can be packed away small when not in use.
From the manufacturer:
“This water bottle is foldable, portable, reusable, durable, freezable, dishwasher safe; as well as BPA, odor and taste free.”
6 – Swimming Gear
If you’re staying at one of the Disney resorts, make sure to pack your swimsuit and beach towels, because you definitely don’t want to miss out on a dip in the pool because you didn’t bring your gear. Just make sure to check out the resort rules first—some may have restrictions on floats, toys and other gear. (And don’t forget to bring that sunscreen I mentioned earlier, even when you’re in the water you’ll still need it!)
No matter what you choose, there’s nothing better than sipping on your favorite beverage while taking in all of the Disney magic. But before you get to Orlando, make sure to pack these 5 essentials for a stress-free trip. I know you’ll have the time of your life.
Happy travels, and here’s to creating some amazing Disney memories!
